PI Parallel Kinematics for Piezo Positioning Systems

This video shows the animation of Physik Instrumente (PI)’s parallel kinematics. In a parallel-kinematic structure, all drives are designed to act on the same moving platform so that each axis has the same dynamic behavior. As a result, higher dynamics, higher scanning frequencies, and better guiding accuracy, repeatability, and stability can be accomplished than with serial axes systems. The parallel-kinematic system can be designed more compact as nested or serial stacked systems.
