Laminography Instrumentation from PI

In this video, Physik Instrumente (PI) presents beamline instrumentation with a variety of animation. PI’s business development manager explains about the laminography instrumentation, which was delivered at the ID19 beamline of European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) at Grenoble. This project involved several partners - ESRF - Synchrotron of Grenoble (France); Fraunhofer IZFP Institute of Saarbrucken – Germany; ANKA – the Synchrotron Radiation Facility at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Karlsruhe, Germany; and the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.

The computed laminography method—Synchrotron radiation computed laminography (SR CL)—is a new imaging technique that enables non-destructive 3D imaging of flat laterally extended objects; the object rotation axis is inclined by an angle <90°, allowing the lateral extension of the samples to be larger than the field of view of the area detector system. This method is suitable for a range of applications such as material science, art, history, and life sciences.
