Canadian Solar's PV Modules Received High Ranks in PV USA Ratings

Canadian Solar Inc. Planar Systems to Provide its TFEL Display Technology to Dytecna Systems Engineering

Planar Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLNR), a worldwide leader in specialty display solutions, today announced that its proprietary thin film electroluminescent (TFEL) display technology has been chosen by United Kingdom-based Dytecna Systems Engineering for its new Crew Information Screen (CIS) design. IBM Develop New Solar Cell Made of Readily-Available Elements

IBM (IBM) today announced it has built a solar cell -- where the key layer that absorbs most of the light for conversion into electricity, is made entirely of readily-available elements -- that set a new world record for efficiency and holds potential for enabling solar cell technology to produce more energy at a lower cost. Comprised of copper (Cu), tin (Sn), zinc (Zn), sulfur (S), and/or selenium (Se), the cell's power conversion demonstrates an efficiency of 9.6 percent -- 40 percent higher than the value previously attained for this set of materials. In order to achieve progress in solar cell research, IBM is leveraging its world-class expertise in microprocessor technology, materials and manufacturing.

Morphologi G3 Particle Characterization System Increases Performance of Solvay Pharma's Research

Solvay Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Marietta, GA, USA) was the first company in the United States to install the innovative Morphologi G3 image analysis-based particle characterization system from Malvern Instruments. Having invested immediately after the launch of the Morphologi G3, with installation taking place in January 2008, the company’s research and development team has since taken full advantage of the system’s ability to generate comprehensive particle shape as well as size information. Solvay scientist Mychael Scoggins believes that the completeness of the data delivered by the G3 allows more discerning materials characterization. “Everyone in the company loves it,” he said.

Attendance in Flex Conference 2010 Increased from 2008-2009 Levels
