Get the Right Furnace
Not all furnaces are appropriate for melting glass. The compositions of many glasses are corrosive, and their fumes and splatter can damage fiberboard linings and heating elements within the furnace. Deltech's RS ceramic lining, developed with Sandia National Glass Labs through more than a decade of research, is the ideal lining for glass melting.
Deltech has also developed countless accessories including bubblers, multiple types of stirring mechanisms, tilt casting, and inclusion of downspouts to allow flowing glass at temperatures up to 1800 C. The furnaces can reach temperatures of up to 1800 ºC and are equipped with a ceramic lining to withstand glass corrosion.
The glass melting furnaces are engineered to remain idle at elevated temperatures and facilitate the rapid dropping of the bottom for swift quenching. The substantial thermal mass of the hot zone ensures quick recovery following the quenching process.
A ceramic split plug and ceramic top cylinder provide convenient access for a stir rod while safeguarding the furnace roof and top opening from corrosive substances.
