Mitsubishi Electric Installs 2,906kW Solar System for Coop Logistic Center in Italy

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO:6503) announced today the completion of a 2,906-kilowatt (kW) photovoltaic (PV) installation for Coop's new CNNA-Prato logistic center in Prato, Italy. Of the 15,710 lead-free solder PV modules used for the 2,906kW system, 15,650 modules (2,895kW) have been installed on the warehouse roof, covering a surface of 21,000 square meters, equivalent to 5 soccer fields. The system will reduce dependence on non-renewable energy, and is expected to generate 3.2 million kWh per year, which will not only completely meet the energy needs of the new logistic center, but will also generate an estimated amount of 500,000 kWh excess electricity that will be transferred to the national distribution network.

Smith & Nephew Unveils TRUCLEAR Operative Hysteroscopy Device

Smith & Nephew's (NYSE: SNN; LSE: SN) Endoscopy Division announced the launch of the TRUCLEAR(TM) System, an operative hysteroscopy device, which is now widely available in the United States. In conjunction with the announcement, Smith & Nephew will host a panel discussion today about hysteroscopy at this year's American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) annual meeting, which is being held in Orlando, Fla. The inventor of the TRUCLEAR System, Mark Hans Emanuel, M.D., Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Spaarne Hospital, The Netherlands, will chair the panel discussion.

Perceptive Informatics, a leading eClinical solutions provider and a subsidiary of PAREXEL International Corporation (Nasdaq: PRXL), today announced that it has expanded its leading medical imaging capabilities with advanced nuclear imaging functionality for cardiology clinical trials. Perceptive has incorporated into its medical imaging technologies components of Hermes Medical Solutions Nuclear Medicine Software Suite and INVIA's Corridor4DM, a solution for nuclear cardiac quantification and imaging. The solutions allow Perceptive to better integrate several imaging modalities, including Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT), and Multi Gated Acquisition Scan (MUGA) to enhance electronic processing, review, analysis, reporting, and archiving of medical images for cardiology trials.

Study Reveals Optical Mouse Can Help Detect Counterfeit Euros

The sensor of some optical mice can be used to easily and cheaply detect counterfeit euros, according to a study published by researchers of the University of Lleida (UdL) in the scientific journal Sensors. Almost 80% of counterfeit coins discovered in Europe in 2008 were two-euro coins.

AU Optronics Ready to Launch Solar Frisbee Roof Project at Taipei European School

Agilent Technologies Buys MassCode Tag Technology from Eurofins for Pathogen Identification

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced it has purchased the MassCode Tag technology from Eurofins MWG Operon, a division of Eurofins. The purchase includes the MassCode trademarks and intellectual property, including four families of patents. Agilent will use MassCode Tag technology to develop new research products for pathogen identification, leveraging its strength in polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and mass spectroscopy. Under the agreement, Eurofins MWG Operon will continue as a supplier of the core component for the new products.

Raytheon Announces Completion of Environmental Test Flights of TALON Laser-Guided Rocket

Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) and Emirates Advanced Investments (EAI) completed a series of environmental guided test flights of the TALON Laser-Guided Rocket. The TALON LGR rounds were pre-conditioned in extreme hot and cold temperatures prior to the flights and hit targets at ranges of 2, 3 and 5 kilometers (1.24, 1.86 and 3.1 miles) during the tests.
