Malvern to Demonstrate Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzers at ACS Expo

Malvern Instruments is demonstrating technologies from its broad range of complementary materials characterization solutions at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Spring 2010 National Meeting & Exposition, from March 21-25, in San Francisco, California.

The Viscotek TDAmax multiple detection gel permeation chromatography (GPC) system, the Kinexus rotational rheometer, Zetasizer particle characterization systems, and the Mastersizer 2000 laser diffraction particle size analyzer, will all be on display. Visitors will also be able to explore other Malvern systems through interactive displays. Malvern specialists will be available throughout the show on Booth #426 to advise on individual materials characterization challenges.

Malvern’s Viscotek TDAmax multiple detection GPC/size exclusion chromatography (SEC) system combines data from light scattering, UV, refractive index (RI), and viscometer detection to deliver efficient measurement of absolute molecular weight and molecular size, as well as information about molecular structure that is simply not accessible with more traditional systems. The TDAmax enables protein scientists to determine the degree of oligomerisation, aggregation, conformation, and conjugation in protein samples. For polymer scientists it delivers information for sensitive product quality control and process optimization.

The Zetasizer series includes systems that measure particle size, zeta potential and molecular weight. The novel measurement technology and patented optics built into Zetasizer Nano systems for example make them equally applicable to characterizing high concentration colloids and nanoparticles of all types, through to measurement of dilute proteins and macromolecules in their native state. Kinexus is a radically new rheometer platform. With its intelligent, intuitive user interface, SOP-driven analysis and innovative hardware, Kinexus makes it much easier to access high quality, relevant rheological data for formulation development and QC.

Used by more than 90% of the world’s leading chemical and pharmaceutical companies the established Mastersizer 2000 system offers advanced technology in a modular design that is simple to operate and can be adapted for automated measurement of wet and dry samples. Mastersizer laser diffraction particle size analyzers have become the systems of choice in companies of all sizes across many different industries.
