DALSA Adds GigE Vision-Compliant Model to Spyder3 Color Camera Line

Hall 4, Booth # D53 – November 3, 2009 - DALSA Corporation [TSX: DSA], a global leader in machine vision technology, today announced the availability of a GigE Vision-compliant version of its successful Spyder3 Color camera.

DALSA’s Spyder3 Color is a color line scan camera based on the successful Spyder3 dual line scan monochrome model. This camera provides a low-cost solution with high color fidelity, flexibility, and ease of use. The Spyder3 Color GigE camera will be introduced here at VISION 2009 in Stuttgart, Germany at the DALSA stand in Hall 4, Booth D 53.

Spyder3 Color GigE provides a low-cost solution with high color fidelity, flexibility, and ease of use

The Spyder3 Color has the red and blue color pixels alternating in one line and all the green pixels in the other line with no spacing between the two lines to minimize image artifact. The camera offers several color output format options, including RGB, RG/BG, or G only to meet different imaging requirements. This camera also incorporates advanced features such as flat field correction, automatic white balance, and is pre-calibrated to common light sources such as white LEDs, for ease of use. GigE Vision is a camera interface standard that allows fast image transfer over the Gigabit Ethernet communication protocol with much longer cable length compared with Camera Link interface.

Since its release, the Spyder3 camera has become one of the most successful imaging products in the marketplace. It has been designed into applications such as flat panel display inspection, postal sorting, wood and steel inspection, food inspection, web inspection, and many others.

“The new Spyder3 Color GigE camera incorporates DALSA’s innovative dual line design for excellent color images with outstanding noise performance and flexibility, combined with a low cost,” said Xing-Fei He, Senior Product Manager at DALSA. “In addition, the GigE Vision-compliant interface enables easy integration with other components, longer cable length from camera to PC, and cost saving for our customers’ vision systems.”

DALSA’s Spyder3 Color camera offers 2k and 4k resolutions with a 14x14 um or 10x10 um pixel size. The camera offers proven performance for OEMs and systems integrators to compete successfully in the machine vision industry.

Key features and benefits include:

  • Seamless interoperation among compliant hardware and software from different vendors

  • High bandwidth (1000 Mbps) for image transfer in real time up to 100 meters in length

  • High resolution (2k/14 um and 4k/10 um pixels resolution)

  • High throughput (80 Mpixels/s throughput, max 18 kHz line rate)

  • Standard Gigabit Ethernet network architecture allows single or multiple camera connection to single or multiple computers

  • Low cost cables, and low cost integration

  • RGB, RG/BG, or G output formats
