Hush Pump for Scanning Electron Microscopes

ASPEX today introduced the Hush Pump(TM), an affordable, noise reducing, oil-free pump for scanning electron microscopes (SEMs) and laboratory equipment requiring a clean vacuum system. This compact, high-performance SEM vacuum pump also offers vibration dampening for sensitive equipment applications while alleviating routine maintenance and contamination.

The ASPEX Hush Pump is a compact 60 liter/min scroll pump that replaces current wet pumps in the Personal SEM (PSEM(TM)) product line, or other vacuum systems, as an oil-free alternative, eliminating any potential leakage as well as the smells and fumes from typical oil pumps. The Hush Pump also reduces energy costs by consuming 50 percent less energy than other wet pumps, and it minimizes ambient lab temperatures by operating 25 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than traditional wet pumps. Lastly, the Hush Pump reduces the noise level from standard wet-pumps, thereby eliminating the need to locate pumps in separate rooms.

In addition to the PSEM, the Hush Pump is also ideal for:

  • Mass spectrometers

  • Vacuum degassing

  • Freeze drying

  • Cryogenics

  • Vacuum distillations

  • Surface coating

  • Laser construction

  • Vacuum ovens

"We are proud to offer a technologically-advanced solution that is both environmentally-friendly and unobtrusive," said Greg Ott, President of ASPEX. "The ASPEX Hush Pump fits all current PSEM models as well as other lab equipment, is easy to upgrade, and comes packaged in a lab-friendly enclosure that reduces emitted sound to the approximate levels of a household refrigerator."
