The Icon series cameras have high sensitivity and high quality sensors. They support monochrome and color formats, and resolutions from VGA to 640 x 480 to 1600 x 1200. Developers of vision systems gain flexibility and the power to develop embedded imaging applications using the Embedded Sapera Vision SDK suite. The suite consists of embedded image acquisition, control, processing and analysis libraries using C/C++ and similar programming languages. It also has the camera setup tool – CamExpert. The Sapera suite features system configuration tools that allow easier configuration, development, deployment and debugging of vision applications.

Using the onboard general purpose I/O, the camera can be used for standalone operations. The camera is prelicensed to run the complete Embedded Sapera Processing suite. Using RS232 or Ethernet ports, the Icon can communicate with external devices. Teledyne DALSA offers the camera as CS and C-mount versions. The inputs and outputs are optically isolated to increase reliability of operations. The camera can also function without any help from a computer.

The Icon camera series have Microsoft Windows CE real-time operating system, a C64x+ DSP processor and a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor for image analysis. The Icon camera series features an open platform that allows development of embedded applications.

Teledyne DALSA announces availability of the Icon camera series in Q4 2011.
