SPIE Supports Asia Student Photonics Conference Through FOCUS Grant Program

Research presentations, invited lectures, and networking to strengthen relationships among students and young photonics researchers worldwide highlighted the Asia Student Photonics Conference (ASPC) in Osaka, Japan, this week. Co-sponsored by the OSA/SPIE Osaka University Student Chapter and the university's Photonics Center, the event ran 24-26 July and was supported by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, through its FOCUS Conference Grant program and several other organizations.

Satellite Imagery and LiDAR Data Used to Map Carbon Density of Panama

A team of researchers has for the first time mapped the above ground carbon density of an entire country in high fidelity. They integrated field data with satellite imagery and high-resolution airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data to map the vegetation and to quantify carbon stocks throughout the Republic of Panama.

Three Ball Aerospace Ultra-Wide-Field Flight Cameras Installed on Orion Interplanetary Spacecraft
