SDC Acquires Film Specialties, Manufacturer of Eyewear Coating Materials

We are pleased to announce SDC Technologies, Inc. (Irvine, CA) has acquired the assets of Film Specialties Inc. (FSI), a leading supplier of transparent, polyurethane anti-fogging coatings and film materials used in such applications as sports, safety and military eyewear, cold room and freezer appliances.

SDC is a leading global supplier of performance-based abrasion resistant sol-gel type coating systems used in variety of applications including, vision eyewear, aerospace, and automotive. Being part of the SDC family with access to its product portfolio and technical resources will enable us to expand our product offering and improve our overall customer service. The Company’s name has been changed to FSI Coating Technologies, Inc. (FSICT) and it will continue to operate independently at its current Hillsborough location under my leadership as Vice President and Managing Director.

Currently, we are collaborating with the SDC team on timely technology transfer, operations improvement and marketing activities to ensure we maximize Customer Focus and improve overall operating performance. We want our loyal customers to be assured that the products currently received from FSI will continue in the future. In addition, we are pleased to announce plans are already underway to launch mid-range performance hardcoatings under the FSICT brand using our global distribution network.

Our collective long-term goal is to delight our customers with a broader range of coating products coupled with outstanding service to meet and then exceed expectations. With the greater resources now available to us, we will redouble our efforts to offer our customer more innovative and user-friendly optical coating products.
