Fastec Imaging Rolls Out New HiSpec Camera

Fastec Imaging Corporation has announced a new HiSpec camera model, the HiSpec 2. The HiSpec 2 has an optional Hi-G configuration which has been certified to 100 “G” accelerations and vibration to 10g’s. And its standard 4GB memory is expandable to 8GB. The choice of Hi-G format and increased memory combined with its small size make the HiSpec 2 ideal for on-board automotive impact testing, military ordinance testing and other harsh environments.

Another feature of the HiSpec 2 is its built-in battery. Not only does the battery ensure fail-safe operation in the event of a power loss, it allows “untethered” operation for up to an hour and has an image retention mode that stores images up to 24 hours.

With a monochrome ISO rating of 2500, the HiSpec 2 captures images in superb detail without the highintensity lights required by some high-speed cameras. The unprecendented photo-sensitivity of the HiSpec 2 enables high speed recordings at 1.3 megapixels under normal lighting conditions.

The HiSpec 2 can record up to 506 frames per second (fps) at a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels and up to 112,000 fps at reduced resolution. And its optional software-based ImageBLITZ® auto-trigger makes it easy to capture those elusive random events. Simply specify a “region of interest” in the field of view and the software takes over. Any change in the pre-set image area will stop the recording and save the event sequence in memory. No special hardware or intrusive wiring is required.

With the HiSpec 2’s Burst Trigger Mode, researchers and production line operators can capture multiple image sequences in the memory without downloading. Separate events can easily be recorded over an extended period of time. Standard contact closure and TTL triggers can enable recordings.

The HiSpec 2’s Gigabit Ethernet interface allows the user to operate multiple cameras from any standard Notebook / PC over a distance of 100 meters. Equipped with a ruggedized industrial Ethernet plug with fastening screws, the HiSpec 1-HR is designed for easy operation in virtually any industrial or laboratory environment.

Fastec HiSpec cameras are the only cameras available that come standard with a GiGE Vision SDK.

The HiSpec 2 high-speed camera is available worldwide through Fastec’s international distributor organization.
