New RGB LED Module High in Luminous Intensity and Reliability

On March 20th, 2019, Lumileds launched the LUXEON MultiColor Module 0.5W, a module capable of generating the maximum luminous intensity of reds, greens, and blues with the industry’s most reliable color.

The module, considered to be the perfect building block for applications requiring consistent, brilliant color, is available with a 3-in-1 RGB in a standard 3535 PLCC6 package. The LUXEON MultiColor Module 0.5W beats all competitors as it generates red light of 1000 mcd, green light of 2300 mcd, and blue light of 500 mcd at a drive current of 20 mA (typical Vf of 2.1, 2.8, and 3.0V, respectively).

For the LUXEON MultiColor Module 0.5W, reliability is considered to be the main differentiator. Greater maintenance of flux and forward voltage of the red, green and blue, LEDs are revealed via testing in a hydrogen sulfide environment.

Long term performance in the application depends on a robust, reliable package design and in this arena, Lumileds stands alone.

The compact LUXEON MultiColor Module is available with a flat light-emitting surface, a black matte surface, and water-resistant design (IPX8 rating) perfect to be used in several video wall and illumination applications.
