Zygo to Provide Laser Interferometer Solutions to Chinese Organizations

Provider of optical metrology devices, Zygo has obtained a $3.5 million order to supply large aperture laser interferometer solutions to optical research companies in China.

The interferometers will be used by Chinese companies to develop large-sized optical units allowing accurate glass homogeneity and surface shape measurements.

The laser interferometer solutions, ordered by the Chinese companies, include systems that have the potential to measure a maximum of 32” diameter parts, and systems with the ability to measure 18” diameter units. The interferometer solutions also include an upgrade of the current Zygo 24” interferometer system.

Zygo’s Senior Product Manager, Dan Musinski stated that the selection of the interferometers was based on comprehensive technical evaluations focused on attaining high-level of performance. Musinski added that the company’s experience integrated with the optical fabrication portfolio allowed them to deliver specific solutions needed by the customers to help in advancing the research capabilities.
