Infinera Launches Infinite Capacity Engine Multi-Terabit Optical Subsystem

Infinera, provider of Intelligent Transport Networks, announced the introduction of the Infinite Capacity Engine, a multi-terabit optical subsystem enabling a step function in optical wave division multiplexing (WDM) performance. The Infinite Capacity Engine is the first optical subsystem in the industry to offer network operators the combined benefits of delivering optical super-channel capacity up to 2.4 terabits per second (Tb/s) and reach up to 12,000 kilometers in a single small package.

Altera Unveils Dual-Mode 56-Gbps PAM-4 and 30-Gbps NRZ Transceivers for Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs

Altera, now the Programmable Solutions Group (PSG) within Intel Corporation, today unveiled the transceiver technology that will enable Stratix® 10 FPGAs and SoCs to support data rates up to 56 Gbps. Altera is demonstrating today the FPGA industry's first dual-mode 56-Gbps pulse-amplitude modulation with 4-levels (PAM-4) and 30-Gbps non-return-to-zero (NRZ) transceivers.

IRT Nanoelec Integrates Laser, Silicon Mach Zehnder Modulator for 25-Gbps Optical Transmission

IRT Nanoelec, an R&D consortium focused on information and communication technologies (ICT) using micro- and nanoelectronics, today announced the first co-integration of a III-V/silicon laser and silicon Mach Zehnder modulator demonstrating 25 Gbps transmission on a single channel. This transmission rate usually is achieved using an external source, over a 10 km single-mode fiber.
