Optical Link Constructed from Aurrion Photonic Components Demonstrates Error-Free for 30Gb/s Data Rates

The highest serial data-rate for a full silicon photonics optical link is being reported by IBM, in collaboration with Aurrion Inc., demonstrating the reach, power consumption, and cost needed for next-generation datacenters. This work will be presented on March 13, 2014 as part of the post deadline session at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference in San Francisco, California.

OMS Introduces Hand Tools for Measuring Hi-Lo Gaps in Steel Catenary Risers

Two hand tools for measuring Hi-Lo gaps in SCRs (Steel Catenary Risers) and other fatigue-sensitive pipes are now available from oil & gas pipe measurement specialist Optical Metrology Services (OMS). The tools are easy to use and provide greater accuracy and repeatability than traditional Hi-Lo gap measuring methods.
