BTI Named Third Fastest-Growing Company in Canada in 2007

BTI Photonic Systems, a global supplier of Agile Optical Edge microWDM networking solutions for the delivery of gigabit services, today announced that it has been named the third fastest-growing company in Canada in the 2007 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 - a ranking of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in Canada, based on the percentage of revenue growth over five years. This is BTI's second consecutive year to be included.

Scientists in India are reporting an advance toward discovering a Holy Grail of the illumination industry ¡X a white LED, a light-emitting diode that produces pure white light suitable for interior lighting of homes, offices and other buildings. Their study is in the Sept. 9 issue of ACS' The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, a weekly publication.

An Australian telecommunications news service, Communications Day, reports that Google is allegedly planning a multi-terabit undersea fiber optic cable across the Pacific Ocean for launch in 2009. Apparently, a group of carriers and Google were meeting in Sydney for high-level talks on the plan, dubbed "Unity", over the last week.

BTI Photonic Systems, a global supplier of microWDM networking solutions for the delivery of gigabit services, announced today it has closed USD $12M in its Series D Financing. The round was led by a new, undisclosed, U.S.-based private equity investor and included existing investors Vengrowth Private Equity Partners, BDC Venture Capital, GrowthWorks Capital, Kodiak Venture Partners, Primaxis Technology Ventures and Lucent Venture Partners.
