Optical Rotation and Refractive Index can be measured on the spot with two new instruments produced by A.KRÜSS Optronic.

The digital hand-held polarimeter HP100, a worldwide first from this Hamburg based company, enables up to 10,000 measurements to be made with charged battery - mains independent and without the need for expensive sample cells. The instrument is easy to use: the optical rotation can swiftly be determined independent of a sample's angle supported by automatic quality monitoring during the measuring process. Stored measurements can be read out via an infrared interface for documentation or further processing an a PC.
With the digital hand-held refractometer DR201-95 the North Germans offer an instrument for save, mobile quality control in the food, beverage, petrochemical and chemical industry. This instrument's special features include a wide range with scales in nD/Brix as well as high resolution and measuring accuracy. Thanks to miniaturization the DR201-95 fits in any pocket. The instrument includes automatic temperature compensation to ensure high accuracy of the measured concentration. Calibration is possible without the need of standards and so can also be carried out in the field without difficulty.
