Fujitsu Frontech Launches XG2600 10Gb Ethernet Switch That Uses SFP+ Optical Modules

High-Performance Switch Offers Industry-Leading Low Latency and Minimal Power Consumption for HPC and Storage Applications; Fujitsu to Demonstrate the XG2600 during SC09

Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., a leading supplier of innovative computer products including peripherals, biometric security solutions and digital media solutions, today announced the XG2600 10Gb Ethernet switch. The XG2600 is the newest addition to the company's family of XG Layer 2 Ethernet networking switching solutions. The 26-port XG2600 utilizes SFP+ optical modules and is designed for use with SFP+ twinax copper cables. The XG2600 reduces overall networking costs while ensuring industry-leading ultra low latency and significantly reduced power consumption. The XG2600 reduces power usage more than 30 percent to less than five watts per port. Fujitsu will demonstrate the XG2600 along with its other cutting-edge networking solutions at SC09 (booth #1224), November 14-20, 2009 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon.

"Our customers demand the highest-performing networking solutions available to support their storage, video and high-performance computing processes. We continue to offer the Fujitsu XG series of Ethernet switches because their unmatched performance and extremely low latencies meet our customers' needs," said Tom Shearer, president and founder of Talon Data Systems. "The introduction of the XG2600 further enhances Fujitsu's robust XG product line by offering a greater number of ports and SFP+ capabilities. The XG2600 retains high-performance and low-latency while reducing power consumption and minimizing overall costs--two very important benefits to our valued customers in the film and video marketplace."

The Fujitsu XG family of high-speed Layer 2 switching solutions offers superior throughput, ultra low latency, flexible interfaces and extremely low failure rates in a compact form factor, creating an ideal networking infrastructure for video server applications, high-performance computing and the Internet SCSI (iSCSI) and Networked Attached Storage (NAS) markets. The XG2600 enhances the Fujitsu XG product line by offering several new features. The use of SFP+ optical modules and support for SFP+ twinax copper cables enables customers to cost-effectively maximize the use of each available port and minimize the overall cost of energy and cabling. The XG2600 also offers field-reversible cooling fans that reduce the overall cost of cooling. The low-power, 1U high form factor allows for easy integration into existing networks and system chassis, making it an ideal solution for energy and cost conscious customers.

"The Fujitsu XG Layer 2 Ethernet solutions are consistently recognized across the industry as offering industry-leading low latency and high performance. We are continually working with our customers and channel partners to evolve our products to meet critical enterprise networking needs," said Jim Preasmyer, director of sales and business development, Advanced Technology Group, Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc." As a result, we have rolled out the XG2600 to deliver the same low latency and performance capabilities while reducing the overall solution costs including power and cooling. Our customers have come to expect these high-performance networking solutions from Fujitsu."
