The Fiber Optic Switch product line of Electro Standards Laboratories has been supplemented with a novel QuickSwitch Model 6197 4-Position LC Duplex Switch.
The Model 6197 facilitates simplified access to any one of the four separate fiber optic networks from a single computer with both ASCII RS232 Serial Data for remote control operation and front panel pushbutton for local control.
In order to facilitate isolation between devices or networks, the Model 6197 Fiber Optic Switch possesses internal circuitry. The MEMS-based mirror or prism switch technology has been employed by the switch in order to leverage the Gb data rates. Additional features include the all fiber, LC duplex, multimode, and 50/125 mi ports that support about 850 nm wavelength with insertion losses reduced to 1.0 dB or less.
The Model 6197 allows consistent transmission of data even during power loss by retaining the last switch position. The unit is service protocol transparent and provides optical data throughput scalability. Switch management is facilitated through a DB9 remote control port that recognizes and allows the RS232 Serial Data commands to control switch positions. Front panel pushbutton can be bolted using a remote. A 120 V AC, 60 Hz wall mount power module, which is UL approved, delivers 12 V DC, 500 mA to the unit.
The CE and UL listed wide range table mount power module is efficient to replace the standard one. The Model 6197 is available in a standard rackmount package, weighing 4.5 lbs with dimensions of 19.0” W x 1.75” H x 8.0” D.
