IMC Networks Launches Ethernet-Based IE-iMcV-Switch for Networking and Workgroup Applications

Provides a Convenient Plug-and-Play Method for Increasing Port Density in Network Environments

IMC Networks, a leading manufacturer of optical access and media conversion solutions for LAN, MAN, and FTTx applications, today announced the IE-iMcV-Switch, Ethernet-based switch module to meet the demand for customers’ networking and workgroup applications.

The IE-iMcV-Switch is a new member of the IMC media converter and switch product family. The model TX/5 provides a compact five RJ-45 port, 10/100BaseT Ethernet switch that is highly expandable using any of IMC’s MediaChassis or iMediaChassis; as well as being supported as a standalone switch when installed in the iMediaChassis/1-AC or /1-DC. When installed in a network application, the IE-iMcV-Switch’s plug-and-play option offers high density port build-out through cascading modules. The product also offers an extended operating temperature range from -40 to +85º C and -48V DC options.

“Our customers’ requests were to be able to easily increase port density at the iMcV chassis locations while not using an additional device or rack space, plus saving time and money. The IE-iMcV-Switch from IMC provides this service by expanding the network in a simple plug and play fashion while only taking up one slot. Additionally, the IMC switch offers an optional port status viewable through our iView2 management software,” states Raul Martinez, Product Marketing Manager at IMC Networks.

The IMC IE-iMcV-Switch TX/5 features 10/100BaseT and auto MDI/MDIX operation. It supports 1000 MAC address learning and aging, half or full-duplex, Flow Control through Auto Negotiation and packet prioritization through its QoS function. The IE-iMcV-Switch is also transparent to VLAN tagging.

The IMC IE-iMcV-Switch includes the following features:

  • Plug and Play

  • 5-port 10/100BaseT ports, expandable option in chassis

  • 1000 Mac address learning and aging

  • Half and full-duplex

  • Auto Negotiation (flow control)

  • Auto Cross MDI or MDIX operation

  • GUI and telnet port status (available with managed chassis)

  • Priority Status for all frames

  • Extended temperature range is -40 to +85º C

  • AC/DC Power Supply options at -48V
