ABB Naveo®Pro Ensures Safer Buildings with Digital Emergency Light Testing

ABB has launched a new wireless solution enabling customers to install, monitor and maintain their entire emergency lighting installation using a fast and intuitive mobile application. Designed for commercial and industrial buildings such as hospitals and universities, the fully automated system provides real-time status in all monitored buildings via a digital floorplan display, to enhance building safety and assist with maintenance planning.

Naveo®Pro reduces the potential for human error and delay by running system-diagnostics 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The system automatically alerts maintenance engineers to emergency lighting failures and informs them which parts are faulty and may need to be replaced; reducing intervention time for required maintenance. The mobile user interface combines a building floorplan with a map and list views of all the luminaires for fault pinpointing and positioning functionality. This can be emailed and shared with multiple users and stored as a permanent record of the health of the system.

“The release of the Naveo®Pro Wireless solution opens new opportunities for the renovation and improvement of emergency lighting systems in buildings, allowing operators to modernize easily and securely, while future-proofing their infrastructure,” explains Eric Lilienfeld, Product Line Manager – Intelligent Emergency Lighting (EMEA) at ABB Electrification’s Smart Buildings Division, “The installation and programming of luminaries is now simple and fast using QR codes. This allows facilities managers to save time and money during the commissioning of emergency lighting, while enjoying access to testing, data and account management tools on-the-go.”

The mobile, touch-screen application helps facility managers to reduce the total cost of ownership, while improving maintenance planning across all their sites simultaneously. For example, by leveraging data from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors to recommend which components to replace, before they become a problem. The Cloud-based software and firmware ensure that users are always using up-to-date technology.

With the trend of replacing fluorescent luminaires with LED (light emitting diodes) that are almost 80 percent more light efficient and longer lasting, efficiency is further enhanced with the Naveo®Pro Wireless system. Its Cloud-connected, and wireless-enabled functionality manages up to 200 emergency LEDs per gateway automatically, and remotely. This reduces maintenance and installation costs, along with the carbon footprint associated with commuting between sites, manufacturing new wiring, and the transportation in support of installation work.

Part of the ABB Ability™ digital platform, the Naveo®Pro Wireless solution offers enhanced cyber security through a secure gateway that is connected to the Cloud. Easily scalable, it integrates with a wide range of emergency lighting luminaries, making it simple for building operators to adopt.
