Newly Designed Mouse Sensor Offers Enhanced Tracking Performance

Avago Technologies today announced a new enhanced mainstream small form factor optical mouse sensor that has been optimized for light emitting diode (LED)-based corded mouse applications. Avago's ADNS-5050, which comes in one of the industry's smallest packages, is a user-friendly mouse sensor that includes several built-in features and enhanced tracking performance. In addition, precision optical alignment is not required, making it easy to install and ideal for high volume assembly. This new compact mouse sensor is a drop-in replacement for Avago's ADNS-5020-EN mouse sensor and provides customers with a convenient way of upgrading their entry-level mouse product portfolio. Avago is a leading supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications.

The ADNS-5050 optical mouse sensor along with the ADNS-5100/5100-001 lens, ADNS-5200 clip and HLMP-ED80 LED light source form a complete and compact mouse tracking system that has no moving parts - making it very reliable and nearly maintenance free for end users. This compact optical mouse sensor is ideal for use in optical mice, optical trackballs and integrated input devices.

The mainstream ADNS-5050 is capable of high-speed motion detection at 30 inches per second (ips) and acceleration of up to 8g. It also has an on-chip oscillator and built-in LED driver to minimize external components and a frame rate that can be adjusted internally for optimum performance. The resolution of the sensor can be adjusted from 125 to 1375 counts per inch (cpi) via a 125 cpi step to provide mouse manufacturers with the flexibility to configure their mice to meet a variety of application requirements.

Avago is a pioneer in optical sensing for mouse technology and continues to be a trend setter in providing mainstream to next-generation LED and laser mouse sensors to mouse manufacturers worldwide. To date, Avago has shipped over 800 million mouse sensors to mouse manufacturers throughout the world and has a proven track record of delivering high volume shipments at uncompromised quality and reliability standards.
