OFC 2014: Oclaro to Highlight 100G Coherent CFP2 Pluggable Transceiver Module

Oclaro, Inc., a leading provider and innovator of optical communications solutions, today announced that it will be demonstrating a much-anticipated coherent CFP2 pluggable transceiver module at OFC 2014. Oclaro continues to focus on creating highly differentiated products based on its core competencies in laser innovation, photonic integration and advanced packaging expertise.

The module's compact, coherent pluggable form factor with a power dissipation of only 12 Watts delivers significant benefits to Oclaro customers with new levels of performance and flexibility for optical networks operating at 100G and beyond.

Compared to conventional solutions, the coherent CFP2 pluggable transceiver features an unprecedented small form factor to enable increased density at the faceplate, reduced power dissipation, and optimal optical performance. These advancements are widely considered to be the key enablers for delivering next generation coherent networks that can support the growing demand for cloud computing, streaming video, social networking and other bandwidth intensive applications. In addition, the CFP2 pluggable form factor enables customers to minimize first installation costs and maintain flexibility to scale their networks over time by adding more capacity as needed.

About the Oclaro Coherent CFP2 Transceiver
The Oclaro coherent CFP2 module represents the first generation of coherent transceivers offered in a pluggable format and delivers the small form factor, low power dissipation and high performance that customers need to upgrade their systems to 100G and beyond. The coherent CFP2 can be deployed with a range of external Digital Signal Processor (DSP) options, allowing customers to select the best combination of optical and electronic solutions to suit their specific application.
