Psoria Shield Launches Psoria-Light for Skin Problems

Psoria-Shield, a manufacturer based in Tampa, has unveiled its new innovative device, the Psoria-Light. This device is a deep UV LED phototheraphy device, which is used in the treatment of vitiligo, psoriasis, and eczema along with other skin disorders. This device has not been patented so far and had been developed initially for the NASA, U.S. Military and ESA.

Psoria-Light is very much like the excimer laser based targeted UV phototheraphy devices, with similar dosages and equally small treatment spot sizes. It offers both UVA and NB-UVB light for treating skin problems. Psoria-Shield was created in the year 2009, with the aim of developing non-invasive and less toxic treatments for patients with skin disorders, which could be treated with UV light. Scot Johnson, Founder and President, who is also a medical device design engineer has been working in the Tampa Bay area for more than 16 years, creating pioneering medical devices.

At present, this technology is available only for qualified healthcare providers and dermatologists and not to home users. The skin problems could normally be cleared after 6 to 10 sittings, and is five times swifter than regular treatments available currently.
