HiperScan Showcases Compact and Rugged Near-Infrared Spectrometers

HiperScan GmbH, the company for high performance scanning technologies is presenting their Scanning Grating Spectrometers at PittCon Exhibition 2008, March 2-7 at New Orleans. Scanning Grating Spectrometers (SGS) are compact and rugged near-infrared spectrometers that are designed as versatile OEM spectrometers for high throughput in quality control including incoming/outgoing inspection, routine inspection and process control in all industry branches like food, forage, polymers, recycling, chemical and pharmaceuticals.

The new SGS2500 features a broad spectral range from 1,300 nm to 2,500 nm that is scanned with over 3,000 samples in 10 ms at 13 nm spectral resolution by a 2-stage TE-cooled InGaAs-detector. The SGS1900 has been extended to the spectral range from 1,000 nm to 1,900 nm. Especially at the upper end this includes the important range of first overtones of lots of substances that can then be identified or quantified by means of multivariate analysis. The SGS1900 is thus superior to the common devices with their limits at 1,700 nm.

Both, SGS2500 and SGS1900, have SMA fiber connectors, but direct coupling is also possible due to very good stray light suppression. Their compact size, ruggedness and low power consumption recommend the use in mobile applications. The standard data interface uses USB. Ethernet or RS232 can be provided on request. Software includes SpectraCon for Windows, a myInstruments driver and a document DLL for direct coupling to any software.

HiperScan is a spin-off company of the Fraunhofer IPMS, which is well known for advanced research and development services for spectroscopic and other sensing systems and process automation. HiperScan and Fraunhofer IPMS will show spectrometers and applications at PittCon 2008 (2-7 March 2008, in New Orleans, Stand 6927).
