IRphotonics Launches Visible Optical Filter for iCure Thermal Spot Curing System

IRphotonics announced that it has launched a new visible optical filter that allows safe heating of light- and heat-sensitive plastics for disposable medical units. The optical filter, which is installed in the iCure AS200 curing solution, eradicates all visible wavelengths to offer infrared energy at over 800 nm.

The optical filter, when integrated with the power and accuracy of iCure, enhances the curing of glues without affecting the heat-sensitive thermoplastics. The filter delivers enhanced infrared light transmittance, when compared to conventional absorbing glass filters. Customers having high absorbing matte and black surfaces or high colored plastic substrates gain from the cure acceleration offered by the curing system.

The optical filter offers light energy through a mid-IR fiber optic lightguide, which utilizes the wide spectrum of available energy. The substrates are protected through a UV cut-off optical filter, which allows wavelengths greater than 400 nm to be transmitted through filters. The optical filter is ideal for applications such as precision assembly and bonding of semiconductor components, temporary fixing of miniature components, fixing of lenses, bonding and fixing of glass and plastic components, and spot curing of thermal epoxies.
