Oclaro Offers 1470 nm Laser Diodes for High-Volume Skin Treatment Markets

Provider of laser and optical communications solutions, Oclaro has ventured into the high-volume laser-based skin treatment markets with new 1470 nm laser diodes. The single-emitter lasers offer a stable and reliable performance and enhanced power for the cosmetic consumer market.

The 1470 nm single laser diodes incorporate Oclaro's Indium Phosphide technology that is utilized in eye-safe applications in the markets of medical, materials processing and defense. They produce an output power of 2 W from a 90 um stripe. In addition, the laser diodes come with a 105um fiber coupled configuration, or on a submount, CMount.

Oclaro’s Division Manager and Executive Vice President, Yves Le Maitre stated that the company’s production infrastructure allows it to take laser technology to the customers. Maitre added that now the company offers the lasers for the cosmetic skin treatment consumer market.
