AT&F Steel has established a new, advanced laser arc welding facility in Cleveland, Ohio. The Hybrid Laser Arc Welding (HLAW) center is considered to be the largest facility in the US.
The HLAW technique combines the features of laser welding and traditional MIG welding to provide design flexibility to fabrication engineers and designers. The produced hybrid laser welds are uniform in size with minimal heat input compared to traditional welds.
The high welding speed minimizes the component distortion, resulting in a standardized solution. This technology enables the use of MIG welding without material deformation as well as the use of lasers to accommodate thick materials. The HLAW center adapts to customized components and large-scale projects and has a 14x60 feet working envelop.
AT&F Steel’s President, Michael Ripich stated that the hybrid laser welding generates quality welds at high speeds. He added that the company’s investment in the new facility shows its commitment to quality and innovation.
