E Ink Unveils Triton Imaging Film and eBook Display at 2010 FPD International

Developer of electronic paper display technology, E Ink Holdings has demonstrated a wide range of display solutions incorporating the E Ink Imaging Film, at the FPD International 2010. The company displayed the E Ink Pearl and Triton imaging films, and other LCD solutions that use the FFS technology, at the event.

The E Ink Imaging Film solutions provide paper-like aesthetics, lightweight form factor, minimal power consumption owing to image stability, and better readability in dynamic lighting conditions. e-paper displays provide portable devices for the applications requiring power consumption and readability. In addition, e-spaper displays are a socially responsible and environmental-friendly paper alternative.

The products showcased at the event are Sony Reader, Amazon Kindle 3 eReader, Hanvon Color WISEreader, as well as Hydis LCDs, namely FFS technology-enabled automotive navigation systems, tabletop computers, and smart phones. The Sony Reader and Amazon Kindle 3 eReader features the E Ink Pearl imaging film, while the Hanvon Color WISEreader uses the E Ink Triton imaging film.

At the expo, the VP of Research and Advanced Development at E Ink, Mike McCreary gave a presentation, titled ‘E Ink Technology: Enabling the Transition from Paper to e-Paper’, which focused on frontplane technologies. In addition, E Ink Holdings’ Director of Special Projects of R&D Center, Ted Hong Shinn gave a speech titled ‘The E-paper Technology Development in E Ink Holdings’, which focused on the backplane technologies.
