EnOcean-Based Lighting Systems to be Presented at Lightfair 2010

At Lightfair 2010, EnOcean presents its new Dolphin platform, the first self-powered wireless sensor modules capable of 2-way communications. In addition to transmitting critical building data, Dolphin modules can receive input from building automation systems - for example, to change set points or operating modes for optimal performance and energy conservation.

These robust, self-powered wireless sensor building automation networks will be demonstrated at the EnOcean Alliance booth No. 2027. EnOcean will also present a new iPhone App that remotely monitors and controls lights in buildings.

The new iPhone App – developed by BSC-Magnum – monitors and controls EnOcean-enabled wireless solutions from virtually anywhere. Simply gliding a finger across the iPhone switches or dims lights, presents instantaneous status and enables remote control of electrical devices – for example, activating lighting scenes, starting a PC or turning off electrical equipment. The App provides system integrators a view of real-time data such as temperature and humidity. Users can track total kilowatt hour usage to manage energy usage and costs.

Bidirectional wireless sensor modules optimized for building automation

EnOcean's Dolphin platform facilitates new applications in building automation. For example, the capture of energy from temperature differentials now enables self-powered actuators that can control water valves and air dampers. Solar-powered room temperature controls now can respond to setpoint and timer data received wirelessly from building automation systems. In this way, large hotels for example can control and reduce their energy consumption centrally, without having to set the temperature locally for each room.

No. 1 in Wireless Building Automation

EnOcean's self-powered and service-free wireless technology sets the standard in wireless building automation. EnOcean wireless modules harvest energy needed to transmit a control commands from ambient surroundings (motion, solar and thermo). This eliminates complicated and costly cabling. The 450 interoperable products already installed in more than 100,000 buildings worldwide confirm EnOcean as the leader in wireless building automation.

At Lightfair 2010, twenty EnOcean OEM partners – including Leviton, Verve Living Systems, BSC-Magnum, Echoflex Solutions, Illumra, and Dimonoff – will present innovative EnOcean-based lighting systems.
