Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment, today announced its new Aficio® MP 4001/MP 5001 Series, the latest monochrome addition to its award-winning Aficio® Series of multifunction products (MFPs). The MP 4001 and MP 5001 will produce documents at 40ppm and 50ppm respectively, while offering full color and monochrome scanning capabilities.
The MP 4001 and MP 5001 feature solutions-based technologies, such as Personal Paperless Document Manager™ (PPDM) and App2Me®, that provide a customized and unique user experience. These solutions are designed to allow users the ability to customize documents and streamline current workflow to enhance personal productivity.
PPDM allows users to capture, combine, convert and share paper, PDF and Microsoft® Office files securely, as well as making document distribution easier by sending paper and electronic files to virtually any destination, including e-mail, FTP sites, Web Folders Microsoft® SharePoint and content management systems. It also allows users to transform paper originals into fully editable Microsoft® Office files, PDFs or fillable forms that can then be electronically completed and revised. In addition, with PPDM, users can extract data from fillable forms into a .csv file for analysis, as well as create Bates Stamps, which are widely used by legal professionals. Also, with PPDM, users have access to one of the most powerful Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engines on the market.
The App2Me solution on the Aficio MP 4001/MP 5001 Series revolutionizes document management, enabling users to create customized workflows and execute them wherever they go. Users can download widgets to any client (desktop, laptop or Smartphone) and use them on any Ricoh MFP enabled with App2Me. App2Me simplifies complex workflows with widgets that can be created to combine, distribute, edit and create documents, as well as perform other tasks automatically. Users can create specialized widgets for virtually any need, in any framework across the multiple platforms that App2Me supports, such as Google Desktop™.

The Aficio MP 4001/MP 5001 is designed to serve as a document distribution portal, incorporating an impressive lineup of technologies, including the ability to scan full-color or black and white originals and share them instantly with Scan-to-Email/Folder/HDD. The Scan-to-URL feature reduces the burden on the network by providing recipients with a link to enable viewing or downloading by a Web browser. The Aficio MP 4001/MP 5001 can also pull e-mail addresses from up to five LDAP servers, saving users time searching for contacts, and it provides full-color thumbnails of every scanned page to ensure quality prior to distribution.
The Aficio MP 4001/MP 5001 includes the high-end security technologies required to keep documents safe from a variety of threats at every stage of workflow. This includes preventing unauthorized access and usage with password protection.
