Timbercon Partners with Direct Optical Research Company and Westover Scientific for Free Fiber Optic Cable Testing Event

Timbercon, Inc., a leader in the development and manufacturing of fiber optic products and connectivity solutions, announced today a partnership with DORC (Direct Optical Research Company) and Westover Scientific to sponsor a special fiber optic cable testing and inspection event at the NXTcomm show in Chicago, June 19 — June 21, 2007.

This event will provide attendees a chance to get a standard fiber optic cable cleaned, tested, inspected and analyzed with accompanying hard copy inspection report of the cable, all free of charge.

"Our goal in sponsoring this event is to provide attendees an opportunity to look at one of their own cables and better understand the attributes associated with its performance," commented John Lee, vice president of sales and marketing for Timbercon. "Teaming with Westover Scientific and Direct Optical Research Company as sponsors for this event has enabled us to demonstrate cutting edge equipment, procedures and processes associated with cable testing, measurement and verification."

For each cable provided, Timbercon will properly clean the cable assembly, perform an end face inspection with a Westover inspection scope to check for scratches, pits and contamination. Timbercon will then conduct an interferometry analysis using a DORC Interferometer to test for radius, apex offset, fiber height, angle, key error and fiber roughness inspection. Finally, Timbercon will provide a hard copy report summary of the cable.
