Royal Contract Lighting reported today that it has built several custom lighting fixtures for MGM National Harbor, a leading entertainment destination based in Maryland and the first luxury gaming resort in the Capital region.
We were thrilled to create custom lighting fixtures for the MGM National Harbor resort, with its dramatic design and impressive scope. Our in-house engineering and production capabilities are well-suited to large-scale projects of this nature, enabling us to produce sophisticated, expertly crafted lighting fixtures within exacting deadlines.
Paul Spacek, President of Royal Contract Lighting
Royal Contract Lighting was engaged by pro.cure llc, a procurement-services provider of furniture, equipment, fixtures, and operating supplies to the hospitality sector, and RAREculture, which provides artwork curation, product development, and sourcing services for the office, hospitality, and retail sectors. Royal Contract Lighting partnered with designers at KNA Design to create fixtures that supported the design objectives.
MGM National Harbor’s design takes its inspiration from the Capital’s architectural legacy with a contemporary, minimalist interpretation. The $1.3 billion property consists of a 125,000- square foot casino, 234 guest rooms, a 27,000-square foot spa, 15 dining options, 74 hotel suites, 18,000 square feet of retail space, a 3,000-seat theater, and 50,000 square feet of meeting space.
Welcoming Patrons with Waves of Light
Royal Contract Lighting fashioned 11 lighting fixtures for the main hallway of the casino. These sculptural fixtures measuring 20 and 25 feet in length feature a fin-shaped glowing linen-finished box with a curved gold blade facing the hallway.
Royal Contract also made 256 frosted white acrylic wave panels that act as architectural elements all over the casino and highlight crystal and gold ceiling fixtures.
Lighting Floor to Ceiling with a Theatrical Flair
Designed by Scéno Plus, the 3,000-seat theater called for 18 dramatic, oversized fixtures hung with strands of brass-plated steel beads. Royal Contract Lighting produced these four-tier fixtures, which measure 6’ wide, 10’ high, and up to 12’ long.
Royal Contract Lighting also designed table lamps for the Communal Bar at MGM National Harbor, and decorative stone floor lamps of cast resin for the Chairman Suite.
