Tri-State LED Announces Completion of LED Lighting Retrofit for The Blue Book Building & Construction Network

Tri-State LED, a division of Revolution Lighting Technologies, today announced it has recently completed an LED lighting retrofit for The Blue Book Building & Construction Network (The Blue Book Network), the nation's largest commercial construction network. The retrofit occurred at the company's Jefferson Valley, NY corporate headquarters and involved the complete replacement of all existing fluorescent lighting to reduce lighting energy use by 60%.

The Blue Book Network worked closely with Tri-State LED, utilizing its full services capabilities to increase lighting efficiency while improving light quality and output to enhance the health comfort and well-being for its employees. Tri-State's site evaluation and scope development addressed the retrofit of existing fluorescent lighting throughout key building areas including offices, open areas, corridor and common areas. In addition, secondary spaces including mechanical rooms, storage areas, and restroom facilities were retrofit.

The project installed new 2x2 and 2x4 LED fixtures, in addition to Revolution Lighting Technologies' LED linear tubes to improve efficiency, and reduction of long term maintenance costs. LED lighting's superior lamp life of more than 70,000 hours, warranties of up to 10 years, and elimination of antiquated lighting components including ballasts, reduces long term material maintenance costs. In addition, the retrofit program included the installation of integral control solutions, including occupancy sensors and day light harvesting. The controls are managed through a wireless system to further optimize overall lighting efficiency.

In order to reduce overall project costs, The Blue Book Network focused on available state and utility incentives. Tri-State LED's management of the incentive procurement process helped The Blue Book Network receive the maximum incentive available, reducing the project payback to only 3.5 years.

"As the leading commercial construction network in the country, we are focused on utilizing the latest available technology to drive greater energy efficiencies," said Robert Kalmer, Facilities Manager, The Blue Book Building & Construction Network. "Capitalizing on Tri-State LED's industry expertise and full service capabilities, we outperformed our goals to improve lighting efficiency while delivering a superior work environment for our employees."

"We are proud to work with The Blue Book Building & Construction Network, to deliver leading LED lighting solutions and services to exceed their project goals," said Thomas Buchanan, Regional Sales Manager, Tri-State LED. "Adoption of LED lighting by an organization such as The Blue Book Network is a testament to the delivered benefits of this lighting technology for both the commercial office and associated construction sector."

There is more than 90 billion square feet of commercial floor space across nearly 60 million commercial buildings in the United States. According to the Energy Information Administration, commercial office buildings spend an average of $1.51 per square foot on energy, more than the national average of $1.19 per square foot. This presents a significant opportunity for Tri State LED to deliver its market leading services to install high quality LED lighting solutions.
