Electro Scientific Industries (ESI), an innovative, laser-based manufacturing solutions supplier for the microtechnology industry has announced its acquisition of Pessac, France-based EOLITE Systems, a company that manufactures unique fiber lasers using innovative pulsed fiber laser technology.
The acquisition offers ESI the potential to customize lasers to suit specific applications for low cost and differentiated capability. A rod-like photonic crystal fiber that generates more power and stores energy higher than the flexible fibers is the key differentiating feature of EOLITE. The acquisition ensures that ESI has direct access to high-power, differentiated fiber laser technology that can be used for several micro-fabrication applications.
The President and CEO of ESI, Nick Konidaris said that its laser capability acts a key for ESI to overcome the challenges in the art materials processing field. ESI strengthens its ability to develop innovative laser-based manufacturing solutions to its customers by integrating EOLITE’s higher power amplification capabilities and flexible pulse technology provided by ESI’s PyroPhotonics division. He also stated that ESI is planning to market both EOLITE laser products and PyroPhotonics products in the market for industrial, microelectronics and solar applications.
