Vytran, a producer of optical fiber splicing and processing solutions, has launched ‘SAS-400,’ an optical fiber stripper that utilizes a hot sulfuric acid which eliminates the protective coating from a fiber, retaining its intrinsic strength.
The SAS-400 will be showcased at the Photonics West 2012 exhibition scheduled between January 24th to the 26th, It will also displayed at the associated BiOS exhibition on January 21st and 22nd at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.
According to Vytran President and CEO, Jean-Michel Pelaprat, the novel SAS-400 optical fiber stripper is based on SAS-200. This innovative SAS-400 is well-built with an intuitive graphical user interface, simplified operating procedures and enhanced operator protection.
The various disciplines that benefit from the SAS-400 automated system include telecommunications, sensing, aerospace, medical and research applications. Coating types like polyimide and acrylate can be removed using SAS-400. It can also strip a fiber section measuring up to 40 mm, and center strip a fiber suitable for metalizing fiber sections and for fiber Bragg grating production.
