Evident Technologies proclaimed that it has inked an extensive patent licensing and buying deal with Samsung Electronics for its quantum dot LED technology.
According to the terms of the deal, Samsung will get global access to Evident's patent product series covering the initial production of quantum dot nanomaterials to final production of LEDs.
Quantum dots are nano-scale semiconductor crystals, which find electronic applications ranging from thermoelectrics to solar power conversion and LEDs. Evident was the first firm to launch quantum dot LED products. The first products were introduced in 2007. At present, the company employs its quantum dot material technology to develop advanced thermoelectric applications.
The Chief Executive Officer at Evident Technologies, Clint Ballinger commented that the company is happy about the quantum dot technology licensing agreement with consumer electronics giant, Samsung. The company’s objective is to enhance the performance of thermoelectric systems using nano-material, he added. Thermoelectric equipment can be utilized for modifying waste energy into electrical energy as well as for solid-state cooling and heating purposes.
