Lightwave Logic, a company that utilizes electro-optical and high-end polymer technology for increasing the effectiveness of various applications and devices, and City University of New York have created an optical waveguide utilizing Lightwave Logic’s Third-order Perkinamine NR chromophores.
Lightwave Logic focuses on creating a Next Generation Non-Linear Optical Polymer Materials Platform for high speed optical computing and fiber-optic communications applications.
Possible applications of the optical waveguide were discussed in detail at the 23rd Annual Roth Capital OC Growth Stock Conference that was held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dana, Point California.
Vinod Menon, Associate Professor of Physics and Member of the City University of New York Photonics Initiative, stated that the polymer retains its optical properties even under high temperatures such as 170° C, making it suitable for nonlinear optical products in planar photonic integrated circuits.
