Furukawa Electric, OFS Unveil Phase Stabilized Optical Fiber Cable

OFS, a US-based optical fiber solution manufacturer, and Furukawa Electric, a Japan-based fiber optic product manufacturer, have announced the release of the Phase Stabilized Optical Fiber (PSOF) Cable in the US.

The PSOF cable is suitable for transmission of base band signals over synchronized measurement systems.

The Phase Stabilized Optical Fiber cable system is ideal for using in phased array antenna, quantum mechanics, linear particle acceleration, and astronomy. It complies with the ITU - T G652 standard and is buffered with a liquid crystal polymer that has negative thermal expansion coefficient. The buffering of the liquid crystal polymer enables the cable to reduce the dependency on temperature for transmission delay time.

The PSOF’s improved stability over temperature allows synchronized measurement system designers to benefit from the use of optical fiber against coaxial cable. The advantages offered by the cable are minimal attenuation, reduced noise and electromagnetic immunity.
