GAO Comm Launches High-Speed Fiber Media Converter

Test equipment provider, GAO Comm has rolled out a new 10/100/1000M media converter for Gigabit Ethernet device links and backbone network transmission. The converter converts the Ethernet signal transmission media through CAT5 to fiber-optic cable with 100 m length.

10-100-1000M media converter

The 10/100/1000M media converter features two network connection media types, namely, 1000Base-Sx/LX Gigabit Ethernet Fiber port and 10/100/1000M Base-T Gigabit Ethernet UTP port. A media converter delivers transmission over long distances with the existing network configuration.

The media converter functions at 1000Mb/s speed across electric and optical channels. In addition, the 10/100/1000M media converter utilizes back-pressure flow control and 802.3x flow control for half-duplex ports and full-duplex ports, respectively. The device offers multi-mode and single-mode fiber transmission with maximum transmission distances of 550 m and 80 km over multi-mode fiber and single-mode fiber, respectively. This expands the transmission distance via the photoelectric conversion network of the converter.

The 10/100/1000M media converter provides complete fiber connections such as LC, BiDi, and SC. In addition, the device has auto mode feature on the UTP port, and is RoHS compliant.
