Producer of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors, Gentex is shipping the LCD-enabled Rear Camera Display (RCD) mirror for 10 Hyundai and Kia vehicles. The mirror is available for the K5, K7, Venga, Grand Carnival, Carens, Kia Sportage, Accent, ix20, Santa Fe, and Hyundai Tucson/ ix35 models, in Asian, European and other international markets.
The inclusion of the new programs, Kia Motors and Hyundai Motor Company now provide 15 models featuring the Gentex RCD Mirror. The mirror features an LCD that operates with a video camera fitted at the back of the vehicle to offer a back view of the vehicle while reversing.
When the automobile is in the reverse mode, a display comes into view via the reflective surface of the auto-dimming mirror. However, the display fades away when the automobile is changed to any other gear mode. This feature is achieved using Gentex’ transflective coating and lighting methods that deliver high-resolution and bright color image.
