Gentex Corporation has announced a three-mirror auto-dimming system with Rear Camera Display (RCD) and other features for the 2011 Toyota Avalon. The sedan is available in North America and other Middle Eastern Gulf Coast countries.
The standard equipment available on the Avalon and the Limited models are an interior auto-dimming mirror, compass, universal garage door opener, Gentex RCD Mirror and hands-free microphone. The auto-dimming RCD Mirror comprises a liquid crystal display (LCD) that is integrated with an automaker-specified video camera at the sedan’s rear.
Enoch Jen, senior vice president of Gentex, stated that the 2011 Avalon model’s auto-dinning mirrors provide extra safety features with RCD. The first car in Gentex’s segment to provide a backup camera as a regular feature is the Avalon.
