AMS technologies announced that it has rolled out a new single-frequency, high-power Rio Grande laser module that integrates a high-performance EDFA and an external cavity laser (ECL).
The Rio Grande laser module offers end users with sturdy solutions for adverse environments. It is ideal for using in microwave photonics, high-resolution metrology, LIDAR, and interferometric and acoustic sensing applications.
The module offers an optical power between 0.1 - 1 W from 1530 - 1565 nm. It assures decreased sensitivity to acoustic and mechanical vibrations. The laser module can withstand adverse environmental settings and preserves system heat dissipation with minimum power consumption.
The laser is based on the company’s planar technology. It consists of a planar lightwave circuit that incorporates a waveguide with Bragg grating and a gain chip to form a laser cavity with substantial advantages. The Rio Grande laser offers high reliability and stability and features low RIN, low frequency noise and a narrow spectral linewidth.
