TeleCommunication Systems Receives Patent for Cellular-Augmented Radar-Laser Detector

TeleCommunication Systems announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued the patent for its ‘Cellular-Augmented Radar/Laser Detector’. The company’s new product enables a cellular laser/radar receiver to share the information of emission detection.

The invention also offers a tiered data structure and an autonomous location determination, for accurate warning. The laser detecting solution is suited for use in homeland security, public safety, and other such applications.

The company’s radar/laser detectors transmit information from undetectable, nearby devices to extend the advance notice, offering more time for a driver to respond. The radar detector system allows the automobiles within a group to communicate information on traffic flow, traffic density, and position, over a longer distance range. This feature facilitates a driver to follow a secure route.

TeleCommunication Systems’ Chief Technical Officer and Senior Vice President, Drew Morin stated that the Cellular-Augmented Radar/Laser Detector patent signifies the way in which cellular laser/radar receivers can be useful in location-based services to help in improving user value in government and commercial mobile environments.
