The company was founded in 1997 and is situated in Goettingen, a famous university town.
The founder and president of ALPHALAS - Prof. Dr. Krassimir Stankov - has 30 years of experience in the development of lasers and laser systems. His deep knowledge in the fields of quantum electronics, optics and nonlinear optics is based on his academic background and many years of leading research at the University of Sofia and the Max-Planck-Institute in Goettingen.
Prof. Dr. Stankov is the inventor of a fundamental method and a device for generating short laser pulses in modelocked lasers, the "nonlinear mirror" or "Stankov's mirror". This method is patented and exclusively used in the PICOPOWER™ series modelocked lasers produced by ALPHALAS, offering high output power for material processing, laser television, and research.
The main activities of ALPHALAS include development, production and sales of lasers, laser systems, laser-related electronics and components. The main products are advanced modelocked, CW and Q-switched diode-pumped solid-state lasers. ALPHALAS is specialized in short pulses (subnanosecond, picosecond and femtosecond) and microchip design but we are offering practically all common types of DPSS lasers featuring high efficiency and compact design.
A variety of optoelectronic devices and components aimed at measurement of various laser parameters is available. We have a large selection of optical and laser components, polarization optics, laser and nonlinear crystals as well as exotic and unconventional components. Most components are available from stock.
