Passat is a research-oriented company specializing in the development of rugged compact turnkey nano-, pico- and femtosecond solid-state lasers and related non-linear optical components.
Located in Toronto, Canada and in Linthicum, Maryland, the company has been in business since 1995.
Using innovative designs that exploit solid-state phase conjugation, pulse compression and frequency conversion, Passat provides inexpensive diode-pumped Nd:YAG lasers that cover the spectrum from the mid IR (3 mm) and eye-safe (1.6 mm) range to the UV (213 nm, 266 nm, 355 nm).
Passat's picosecond lasers provide at 1064 nm peak output powers of up to 50 MW and pulse widths as short as 10 ps.
Passat's lasers are used for life science applications including mass spectrometry (UV and IR MALDI), laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), laser induced fluorescence (LIF), and as nanotechnology instruments in micromachining, precise marking, trimming, drilling. Passat's picosecond lasers is also applicable for precise ranging, remote sensing, high resolution 3D imaging.
Passat is also a worldwide leader in the manufacture of large-aperture Faraday Rotators and Isolators.
