At the core of our company is a new technology for producing semiconductors developed by the Chief Technology Officer, Dr Scott Butcher and his BluGlass team that originally came from Sydney's Macquarie University.
By using our technology and approach to depositing gallium nitride (GaN), LED manufacturers can produce less costly light emitting diodes (LEDs) in a more environmentally sensitive way.
BluGlass has taken the first steps to commercialise this technology for a rapidly growing world market for LED devices.
To secure a share of this market, BluGlass has built a strong technical and commercial team and has been seeking out potential partners and customers.
In October 2006 BluGlass signed an important Joint Development Agreement with St Gobain, a French based multinational, which is an expert substrate supplier to the development of the BluGlass technology.
The plan is to refine our GaN process in the new BluGlass research reactor and in a commercial-scale demonstration reactor currently under construction in Ireland.
In early 2008, BluGlass will have a state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication plant in which to develop and showcase our technology.
