Acer’s New K11 Pocket Projector Utilizes Luminus’ PhlatLight LEDs

Luminus Devices, PhlatLight LEDs manufacturer and developer, announced that its PT-39 PhlatLight LEDs has been used to power Acer’s K11 DLP projector.

The K11 DLP projector is the smallest projector in the world to provide a brightness of 200 lm. The K11, an advanced version of the K10 projector, delivers double the performance with a reduced footprint. The K11 projector is iPad/iPhone-compatible and supports HD multimedia devices and USB media sources, and comes with a built-in card reader to enable quick media sharing.

The PT-39 chipset is designed for those projectors that utilize 0.4-0.55 inch micro-displays with individual green, blue and red LEDs. The PhlatLight LEDs can perform reliably even at high intensity levels and delivers high output levels. The size of the PT-39 LEDs is larger than the traditional LEDs. The PhlatLight LED-illuminated projectors generate up to 40% wider color gamut than the standard specified by National Television Systems Committee.

The PT-39 LEDs do not contain any hazardous materials and have a lifespan of above 20,000 h in the K11 projector. The LEDs comply with the Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive set by the European Economic Community.

Acer’s Director of Digital Display Business Unit, Victor Chien, stated that the PhlatLight PT-39 LEDs offer a bright and compact lamp-free projector for mobile users. Combination of multimedia interfaces and deep colors make the K11 an ideal accessory for entertainment and business applications.
