Infinera's Digital Optical Network to Link Paris and Roubaix Data Centers

Roubaix, France-based OVH chose Infinera's digital optical network to link its Paris and Roubaix data centers. The Internet service provider (ISP) operates more than 24,000 servers in its data centers.

The Infinera network enables more flexible capacity and services, according to the companies, than traditional DWDM systems. It eliminates the majority of optical fine-tuning, allowing for faster scale-up. OVH, which supports a range of web-domain capacities, serves more than 160,000 customers with 600,000 web sites. It also enrolled in Infinera's "just-in-TAM" program to light additional wavelengths and add services with streamlined set-up time.

Infinera cited its large-scale photonic ICs as reason for the contract win. Its French partner, telecom systems integrator BE FREE Networks, managed the network deployment for OVH. BE FREE offers network design, logistics, installation, and service and support.
